The Power Wagon name was revived for the 2005 model year as a four-wheel drive version of the Dodge Ram 2500. Now Dodge has been making pickups since 1917 but 81 was the first year a Dodge pickup sported the Ram name.

The name Ram was first used in 1981 model year Dodge Trucks in October 1980 following the retiring and rebadging of the Dodge D series pickup trucks as well as B-series vans though the company had used a rams-head hood ornament on some trucks as early as 1933. The name RAM was first used in 1981 on the redesigned version of the Power RAM following the retirement of the famous D-series Dodge Pickup Trucks. Ram a division of Dodge was founded in 1981 even though Dodge had already been producing trucks since the early 1900s.

The hood ornament was first used in 1933 but ceased in 1950. US army general John pershing used Dodge cars for field testing and his efforts to oust mexican warlord Pancho Villa. It also made its first diesel heavy-duty truck with a Dodge engine.

The first right-hand drive Dodge was shipped to Australia in August 1915. As a nameplate Power Wagon continues as a four-wheel drive version of 34 ton Ram Trucks 2500 model. It is considered one of the best brands has a good reputation worldwide.
